Vancouver International Airport awarded Dewbridge Airport Systems a contract to manufacture three Over-The-Wing (OTW) Dual Boarding Bridges for delivery in June 2004. The first OTW Dewbridge has been operational since April 2003 at the Calgary International Airport and has received much attention by low-fare airlines. When used in conjunction with a standard bridge (known as a Dual System), the OTW Bridge permits faster boarding and deplaning of passengers by allowing them to enter and exit the aircraft from both the forward and aft doors of the most common narrow-body aircraft, the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 family. The reduction in aircraft turn-times results in a compelling business case with very fast return on investment (ROI). In mid December, Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay, WI awarded a contract for 6 apron drive bridges to be delivered mid summer 2004 and Northwest Airlines awarded a contract to Dewbridge for the relocation of 19 Dewbridges at their C concourse in Detroit and the addition of 10 new radial drive bridges.
