Over-the-Wing (OTW) DewbridgeTM
The OTW DewbridgeTM is an automated bridge that is sold as part of a DoubleDocker system or retrofitted at gates where there is an existing Apron Drive Bridge. The OTW Bridge is designed for use on Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families of aircraft. These aircraft are favored by mainline carriers and low-cost carriers (LCCs) and represent over 70% of aircraft produced. The OTW is also designed for Boeing 757-200 and Embraer 190 aircraft. By adding an OTW Bridge, passenger handling time is effectively halved – resulting in faster aircraft turnaround and higher aircraft utilization.
Overview
The Over-the-Wing (OTW) Dewbridge™ is a passenger boarding solution that extends from the terminal departure doorway to both front and rear aircraft boarding doors. The OTW includes a forward Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) to service the forward aircraft door (L1 door) and a rear PBB that extends over the wing of the aircraft to service the aft door (L2 door).
The OTW Dewbridge™ is available as a stand-alone product, adaptable to an existing boarding bridge. The intent is to reduce aircraft turnaround time at the gate, enabling increased aircraft utilization. Secondary benefits include the ability to make up for delays and to increase availability of gates at the airport for more flights. The benefits accrue to both airlines and airports.
